THE CHALLENGE
Meta tasked me with an interview exercise to assess my ability to design, test, and optimize prompts using their proprietary generative AI model. The goal was to evaluate strategic thinking, creativity, and technical understanding of how to elicit high-quality, human-like responses using structured language.
THE SOLUTION
I approached the test by first researching model capabilities and limitations, then designed a series of modular prompt frameworks grounded in:
- User intent modeling
- Iterative refinement (zero-shot, one-shot, few-shot methods)
- Creative experimentation for tone, structure, and accuracy
- Visual storytelling, where applicable, to demonstrate the prompt-to-output process
- I wrapped the exercise in a visual deck that showcased both the strategic rationale behind each prompt design and the qualitative outcomes generated by Meta’s Gen AI.
THE OUTCOME
- Demonstrated versatility in prompting for different content types (instructional, storytelling, persona-based, etc.)
- Framed prompt engineering as a creative UX discipline—not just technical tinkering
- Helped highlight how thoughtful language scaffolding can unlock Gen AI’s full value
- Received strong internal feedback for the clarity, strategy, and creativity of my presentation
