404 ERROR – PAGE REDESIGN PROCESS
BACKSTORY
Built and led a newly formed UI/UX Team for Western Digital’s Marketing Team. Our responsibilities included: UX strategy, UI design, copywriting, and project management. We were asked to update the company’s 404 error page, since we just rebranded and the page was an opportunity to reflect our brand’s new tone and voice.
The main goal was to update the tone and visuals to match the new corporate rebrand. The secondary goal was to create a better UX by simplifying the content below the fold, changing the search technology, and creating a better journey after landing on this error page.
LEVEL 404 CONCEPT
Gaming is an important vertical and audience for one of WDC’s product lines, so we played off of that theme. ‘It looks like your nemesis has seized the page. Let’s go back home to try again.”
